GRAPHITE GASKET SEALS

Graphite gasket sheets are available in various thicknesses, depending on the equipment and sealing requirements. Common thicknesses include 0.5 mm, 1.0 mm, 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, and 3.0 mm. However, manufacturers can supply other thicknesses upon request. Similarly, gasket dimensions depend on the flange size, bolt arrangement, operating conditions, and required sealing standard. Suppliers can also manufacture custom shapes to match specific industrial equipment.

Description

Boiler Graphite Gasket seals: Technical Description

Boiler Graphite gasket seals are high-performance sealing materials designed to prevent fluid and gas leakage in industrial equipment. They provide reliable sealing in demanding applications involving high temperatures, pressure, and chemical exposure. Therefore, industries use graphite gaskets in boilers, steam pipelines, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, and chemical processing equipment. Moreover, their excellent thermal stability makes them suitable for applications where conventional rubber or fibre gaskets may fail.

Boiler graphite gasket seals typically use flexible graphite manufactured from expanded natural graphite. Manufacturers compress this material into sheets, rings, or custom shaped components. As a result, the finished gaskets offer flexibility, compressibility, and excellent sealing performance. Additionally, some graphite gaskets incorporate stainless steel inserts or metal reinforcement to improve mechanical strength and handling.

One major advantage of graphite gaskets is their ability to withstand elevated temperatures. Depending on the grade, construction, atmosphere, and operating conditions, flexible graphite gaskets can handle temperatures reaching approximately 450°C in oxidising environments and significantly higher temperatures in non oxidising environments. Nevertheless, buyers should always confirm the manufacturer’s temperature limits before installation. Furthermore, graphite offers good chemical resistance to many industrial fluids. However, strong oxidising agents may attack graphite, so compatibility checks remain essential.

Graphite gaskets also provides excellent thermal conductivity and help maintain a stable seal during temperature fluctuations. Consequently, they are widely used in steam systems, industrial boilers, refineries, power plants, and manufacturing facilities. In addition, reinforced graphite gaskets offer improved resistance to blowout and mechanical damage when correctly selected and installed.
